Dear Downing Family Members and Friends:
We hope this letter finds you all in good spirits and good health. The Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York & Virginia Crew Reunion 2026 Planning Committee is very excited to host the 2026 Family Reunion. We are in the process of organizing our next family reunion that will bring all of our extended family members together to reconnect, share stories, and create new memories. A “heartfelt” thank you to the Downing Reunion California Crew for hosting our 2025 Reunion.
The upcoming 2026 Family Reunion will be an excellent opportunity to get everyone together, share our history, create new memories, and form long-lasting bonds with our extended family. We are looking forward to having us reunite with one another because our family reunions provide an atmosphere of excitement, peace, and comfort. We are requesting your assistance in making the 2026 Family Reunion a memorable one. We have worked diligently to present the reunion package to you early with the intent of giving everyone the opportunity to start preparing now!

We will be staying at the Delta Hotels by Marriott in Chesapeake. Please take a few moments to visit their website for all the hotel amenities and guest services. Our discounted group rate for the hotel is:
$230.00 Two queen beds each night (plus tax).
$200.00 King room each night (plus tax).
$250.00 Studio Suites (plus tax).
You may contact the hotel directly to reserve your room(s) at (757) 666-0053. If you need special accommodations, such as a handicap accessible room, please inform the hotel when you make your reservations. Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m. The guaranteed discounted room rate expires on June 15, 2026 (Eastern Standard Time). Therefore, we strongly urge you to contact the hotel as soon as possible so you can get in on this great deal and get ready to have a fantastic time!
PLEASE NOTE: Once you request your room(s), you will not be charged for a one night’s stay. If you would prefer to come a day earlier or stay a day later, please request the Downing Reunion Room Rate. Our reunion breakfast buffet will be included with your room rate from Thursday thru Sunday morning. All reserved rooms will receive breakfast vouchers for the number of registered guests in your room. Parking is free.

Smoking is permitted outside of the building, not inside of the building or in front of the hotel. Please be advised that there may be a hotel fine for smoking indoors, and by disabling your room key, you could be denied access to your room until the fine has been settled with the front desk. We most certainly do not want this to happen to any of our family members, so we wanted you to be aware of the possible penalties from the start.

Donations to our Downing Family Charities (Alzheimer’s Foundation, Sgt. Michael R. Hill Scholarship Fund, The Kidney Foundation, and The American Cancer Society).
